Recreation Therapy
Recreation Therapy utilizes activity-focused interventions to support clients in meeting self-identified goals and improving overall quality of life.
At Milestones Clinic, Recreation Therapy is individualized to each client's interests, abilities, and needs. Our Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists work with clients to build confidence and self-esteem, strengthen emotional regulation, and cultivate skills, hobbies, and activities that help make every day a meaningful one. Individualized sessions can include a wide variety of activities, including art, play, music, sports, community activities, games, creative dramatics, and more.

Common Recreation Therapy Goals:
- Increase confidence, social skills, and community engagement
- Strengthen decision-making and communication skills
- Develop self-expression strategies
- Identify individual strengths and interests
- Explore adaptive techniques for leisure activities
- Reduce symptoms related to mental health diagnoses
- Develop natural supports in the community
- Engage in emotional processing or coping through activities
- Develop healthy emotional and physical outlets
- Build water safety and basic swimming skills
- Improve physical abilities (i.e. fine motor skills, gross motor skills, coordination, strength)

- Have either a Family Supports Waiver (FSW) or a Community Integration and Habilitation Waiver (CIH)
- Are interested in utilizing play and recreation to gain or build upon their skills
- Are school-aged, adolescent, adult, or senior
